Sown in Every Heart

Sown in Every Heart

On July’s hush at Dover’s gate,

a C‑17 opened—America held its breath.

No speeches could outshine the weight

of four flags speaking the language of death.

1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan.

Pvt. Isabella Gonzales.

Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad.

Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton.

Say them slow—like vows, like prayer—

and let their names stay.

They stood where duty asked them to stand:

Jordan’s hard heat, Iraq’s long night

not for glory, not for a headline,

but for the promise stitched into the flag’s bright light.

Behind each rank, a whole life:

a son, a daughter, a sibling, a friend

and yet they carried all of us forward

to a place they would not reach again.

So sow their names in every American heart

not as a moment we scroll past,

but as a living charge:

to remember, to honor, to be worthy,

and to hold our freedom like something sacred,

because it was paid for—at last

in silence, in dignity, in love.
